Unbeaten Pre-Season

Despite going a goal down inside seven minutes in their last friendly of the pre-season against Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox, Chelsea recovered brilliantly to win 3-1 with two first-half goals from Danny Sturridge and a late second half header from one of many substiutes in Florent Malouda.

Chelsea went 1-0 down after the defence went walk about following a Rangers attack.

Alex missed Naismith's cross as it came in from Rangers right and Jelavic headed in at the far post and Chelsea had conceded their first goal of the pre-season.

The Rangers goal then galvanised Chelsea into action. By half-time thanks to two Danny Sturridge's goals (a man with a mission and a point to prove) Chelsea were in control.

Danny's first came after a brisk move down Chelsea's left, the ball found its way right across the Rangers area to an unmarked Sturridge who smashed it high into the Rangers net, at the Rangers end, from just outside the six yard area.

Sturridge's 2nd goal was made from his own perserverance.

Out on Chelsea's right, Danny won control of the ball from Rangers left-back Wallace, he ran into the penalty area and from an acute angle scored with a low shot under McGregor's body.

Chelsea lost MIkel due to an ankle injury minutes before half-time and although Rangers caused Cech moments of anxiety, substitute Florent Malouda sealed the win with a deft header from a delightful Didier Drogba cross.

Minutes later Didier was brought down inside the area.

Up stepped Super Frank and his penalty was saved by McGregor, who was miles of his line there was no controversay.

Once the final whistle blew and despite Rangers' torrid week, the 47.000 Ibrox fans saluted the triumphant Londoners.

Danny Sturridge WILL miss the first three games of the new 2011/12 season:

Stoke away, WBA home and Norwich home due to his loan commitments with Bolton last season.

Chelsea: Cech, Ferreira (Bosingwa h/t), Alex (Kalas 86), Terry (c), Cole, Ramires (Benayoun 71), Mikel (McEachran 43), Lampard (Chalobah 85), Kalou (Malouda 59, Torres (Drogba (h/t), Sturridge (Anelka 59)

Goals: Sturridge 21, 29, Malouda 71

Sturridge has made it impossible for Villas Boas to send him out on loan......?
