Officially Chelsea's pre-season gets underway at Portsmouth this afternoon. This after the cancellation of last week's friendly against Vitesse Arnhem. Unofficially Chelsea's season started earlier in the week with a behind closed-doors game against Wycombe Wanderers, Chelsea running out easy 3-0 winners.

Portsmouth have reported that 15,000 tickets have already been sold for this afternoon's game - 3,000 Chelsea fans will be there after selling out the allocation in pretty quick time.

Today's game will be AvB's first (and his newly assembled management team) under public scrutiny and without any major signings so far, what can we expect from today's game?

I think the same amount of players will be used that were used for the Wycombe game - 23.

Friendlies are all about getting the players back into the groove, re-establishing fitness levels, adapting to new systems and methods.

Results are NOT important, although there will be fans who will think its the end of world if Chelsea do not win - EVERY game!!!

THERE WILL BE LIVE UPDATES ON THE BOARD FROM ABOUT 2.30PM.

Tomorrow, the squad fly out to the Far East for a Chelsea 'jollie.' A 'jollie' that was arranged over a year ago.

Four games in nine days, beginning with Malaysia XI on July 21st, Thailand All-Stars July 24th, Kitchee 27th July, Villa/Blackburn 30th July, returning in time to play Rangers in Glasgow on Saturday 6th August.

Also playing today is a Chelsea XI who travel to Broadfield to play League Two newcomers, Crawley Town.
