After the extraordinary last day demolition of Wigan that confirmed Chelsea as Champions, this season started off in sensational goalscoring style with the Champions scoring SIX on a first day win at The Bridge against new-boys WBA, managed by legend Robbie Di Matteo, assisted by another legend, Eddie Newton.

They and Adrian Chiles were despatched back to the West Midlands with their backsides firmly spanked. Didier Drogba continued his scoring spree with a first day hat-trick.

The goalscoring fun continued the following week as Wigan were firmly put in their place as Chelsea rattled in another SIX, adding to the eight scored on title winning day.

As the sun shone on a late August afternoon, Stoke were the next visitors to The Bridge and were beaten 2-0. I have a picture of the 'Boss' hanging proudly in the house celebrating one of her rare visits to The Bridge.

Two away games followed:  Away at West Ham in the league and MSK Zilina in the first group game of the new 'Corrupt Cup'...... oops Champions League campaign.

Chelsea won both games - 3-1 and 4-1 respectively and continuing their incredible scoring run.

It would be three weeks before the Champions were to play at home again and newly promoted Blackpool together with maverick manager, Ian Holloway came visiting.

The game was all over by half-time as Chelsea went nap at The Shed End scoring four times, 2 from Malouda and 1 each from Drogba and Kalou.

Three home games twelve goals scored and none conceded.

The first home cup game of the season saw Newcastle United visit the Bridge and the first goals of the season were conceded as Newcastle won the game, 4-3.

Chelsea, 3-1 down with minutes to go pulled the game level with two late Anelka goals and with the game heading into extra-time, Utd's Taylor scored to put the Barcodes into the next round.

Chelsea's first league defeat of the season came against Money Citeh at Eastlands 1-0. The goal scored by Tevez after the first of many defensive mistakes the season was to produce.

The Money Citeh game and the next two games against Marseille in the CL and Arsenal in the League were viewed whilst yours truly and the Boss were sunning themselves in the Orange State of America - Florida.

Absolutely surreal watching Chelsea play, five hours behind UK time.

Marseille were beaten 2-0. A Didier cheeky flick and an Alex piledriver saw off Arsenal 2-0.

The rest of October saw Chelsea win two out of three league games against Wolves 2-0 at The Bridge and Blackburn Rovers 2-1 away at Ewood Park.

The Champions dropped two points at Villa Park in a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.

The Champions League campaign continued with another win in Russia (Chelsea's third). A Zhirkov stunner helped Chelsea to beat Spartak Moscow 2-0 in the Luzhniki Stadium, the scene of Chelsea's Champions League final heartbreak against Man Utd, eighteen months before.

Although the majority of performances were not that spectacular, Chelsea were top of the league and on course to retain their title.

Little did we know what the next few months had in store.
