After being humbled by reserve league champions Aston Villa last week 4-0 at Griffin Park, the reserves bounced back in style by slaughtering Portsmouth reserves at Havant's Westley Park ground on Tuesday night, 5-2. 18 year old Adam Phillip was Chelsea's hero by scoring a hat-trick and Fabio Borini chipped in with two goals.

After today's announcement where Gael Kakuta was banned by FIFA for FOUR months, young Gael played his last game after recovering and fighting back from a serious leg injury, sustained in training last season.

Since Gael joined Chelsea from Lens in 2007 his career has been blighted with injuries although Gael was instrumental in Chelsea reaching the FA Youth Cup final in 2008.

Chelsea were ahead inside three minutes when Phillip scored his first, Borini slid home Chelsea's 2nd on twenty-six minutes. Portsmouth replied a couple of minutes through Subotic.

The start of the second-half saw Portsmouth in the ascendency and it was no surprise when they equalised through Mahoto on the hour. Four minutes later Portsmouth's Wilkinson was shown a 2nd yellow (which deserved a straight red) after he chopped down the very impressive Kakuta.

Once down to ten men Portsmouth struggled to contain Chelsea's crisp football and movement and it was no surprise when Chelsea regained the lead after Borini headed in strongly from Sala's corner.

Adam Phillip (who scored in the Academy's win against Forest last Saturday) completed his hat-trick when he scored twelve minutes for time and then again in injury-time.
