Carlisle United striker Karl Hawley is the latest player to be linked with a move to Wednesday after netting 14 times this season and winning League Two's player of the month for November.

Owls Boss Paul Sturrock has made it public that he is desperate for at least one new striker in the January transfer window, and hopes for two to sign. Southampton's Leon Best is one player Sturrock has said he would like to sign - a growing possibility since the departure of Harry Redknapp from St Mary's.

The 24-year-old moved to Carlise from Walsall in the summer of 2004 after being released by the Midlands club. He was highly rated by fans at the Bescott but was forced to move to lower the wage bill.

He scored 14 goals in his first season at Carlisle, but has already matched that total this season, being rewarded with the League Two Player of the Month for November. He scored 4 league goals last month including a hat-trick against Torquay. He also netted in the LDV Vans Cup.
