The Clarets have decided to release six 2nd and 3rd year apprentices at the end of the season by not offering them contracts at the end of this season.
The players that will leave at the end of this season are Cayne Hanley, Nicky Platt, Martin Reilly, Mark Crossley, Rob Henry and Marc Pugh. The six will continue to be part of the squad either until the end of the season or until they join new clubs or are offered trials elsewhere. Youth Development Officer Vince Overson spoke about the decision saying: "It was a joint decision between the manager, his staff at the club and myself and Terry Pashley, after the lads came and approached the manager about their future. "They have shown a great attitude since though and are continuing to train and play here. "We want to help them get fixed up with new clubs and there has already been interest in a few of them so we hope that it works out."
