Well it has just been confirmed that possibly one of the most popular players at the Turf in recent times, Stevie, Stevie Davis, has been given the role with immediate effect.

The contract is until the summer of 2007 and is to include First Team coach and Reserve Team Manager.

Davis is now 37 years old and returned very recently as a scout for the club. In his time with us he made over 350 appearances over three spells.

The appointment isn't a total surprise, especially when Steve went to Derby on Saturday to cover for Yates. SC has said "Steve has joined our coaching staff to take the place of Mark Yates. He will be doing exactly the same as what Mark did with the first team and also taking care of the younger players in the reserve team as well."

Cotterill also admitted he had this in mind when he appointed Steve scout back in late October. "I anticipated this would happen and after having a long chat with Mark in the summer I knew he wanted to become a manager."

The Longside would take this opportunity to congratulate Steve on his appointment and wish him all the best. His motivation was second to none as a player and we're sure he'll carry that through in his new coaching career.
