Saturday sees one of the biggest days of the football calendar upon us again , FA Cup third round day. OK, so a trip to Derby was not the tie any Burnley fan would have wanted, but a trip to Derby in the cup will certainly stir some emotions for Burnley fans following the cup games there in 1992 and 1999.

1992 saw the Clarets travel to Derby for a third round replay following a 2-2 draw at the Turf. The initial replay was abandoned due to fog with the Clarets 2-0 down, much to the amusement of the traveling Burnley fans. The return to Derby for what was then the Baseball Ground saw the Clarets again 2-0 down, causing the Burnley fans to respond for most of the second half with the unforgettable, "Jimmy Mullen's Claret and Blue Army," chant. On and on it went until well after the final whistle. The support of the traveling Clarets made the national newspapers, it was that great a show of support. Another one of those 'you had to be there' moments.

In 1999 the Clarets again traveled to Derby in the third round of the competition. The Clarets were riding high in the second division, sitting in fifth place in what was our promotion year, but this was again a big ask against now Premiership Derby County. The Clarets became giant-killers, coming away from Pride Park with a 1-0 victory courtesy of an Andy Cooke header in front of 5,000 traveling Clarets, many of them donning Santa Claus outfits. The highlight of the day though was Glen Little running rings around a fat Georgi Kinkladze, something that would surely have not been possible some three or so years before.

So, back to the present day, and Burnley and Derby are now on a more level playing field, occupying 8th and 18th places in the Championship respectively. Burnley will more than likely be without Gifton Noel-Williams as a result of his horrific eye injury sustained in defeat against Sheffield Wednesday on New Year's Eve. Both Gifton's eyes are still virtually closed according to Cotterill and he is almost certain to miss this one. The only other injury problem is obviously Danny Coyne, out for the season. Lee Grant will also not be able to figure due to the terms of his loan deal from Derby. Derby have no injury worries, but will be without Middlesbrough loan duo Danny Graham and Andrew Davies as 'Boro will not allow the two youngsters to be cup tied for the remainder of the season

Although it's not the tie we wanted, here's hoping the Clarets can progress, or bring them back to the Turf at least and be rewarded with a money spinning tie in the fourth or latter rounds
