The 8 contestants had been sponsored by friends and family who came along to support them on the night, each star having their own ‘fans table’ at the cabaret-style show. Judging the performances were Clarets legend Willie Irvine, superstar Dolly Parton (who bore a striking resemblance to Michelle Dolman from the Black Horse pub in Accrington) and local singer/songwriter Rebecca Stone, who also entertained the crowd with a tribute to Andrea Corr. The compere for the evening was the inimitable Jeff Brown, well known to Burnley fans as the warm-up man at Turf Moor.

After a close contest, the winner was Elvis Presley, otherwise known as Mo Shine from Barnoldswick. Mo will soon be presented with a framed ‘platinum’ disc surrounded by photos of his winning performance, taken by Steve Lockyer.

Raffle prizes had been donated by Burnley FC, Asda, Boots, Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Sainsburys, The Dunkenhalgh Hotel, and Clarets Trust Chairman Peter Pike. The Trust would also like to give special thanks to member Pat Keightley, who lives in Accrington. As Pat could not make the show, she made a cash donation to the Trust, and also gave us a matching watch and bracelet as a raffle prize. A cash donation to The Pendleside Hospice was also made by Mrs Rose Gardiner.

The evening was rounded off with a supper provided by Phil Miller, landlord of The Stanley Club, which is the home of the Accrington Clarets supporters group.

A total of more than £300 was raised on the night, and the Trust will be making a donation to The Pendleside Hospice at Reedley.

Also our very own site Moderator, Bev went "What a fabulous night was had at the Stanley Club last night. The room was full (standing room only at one point) and there was a great atmosphere created by everyone.

I went with my children and my neice, who were made up when Jeff Brown (or as they called him the BOGOF man) came and said hi to them!

The Performers were very talented and they all looked the part with their costumes. Britany Spears caught a few men’s eyes with her outfit and I would not liked to have been a judge on the night, I could not have chosen the winner, as the standard was so high.

Rebecca Stone performed as Andrea Corr and did a fabulous set, even getting a few up dancing during her routine.

Jeff Brown was a great host and kept us all entertained with his jokes and one liners. I cannot wait until he hosts our Christmas Bash!!

The raffle prizes were fantastic and most people were after the signed Burnley football, unfortunately we didn’t win that! However my son did win a raffle prize and although I wanted him to choose the spa session, he chose the tin on Celebrations!!

Elvis was crowned the star for the night, his performance was great and he did sound amazingly like Elvis.

Well done to all at Clarets Trust for making it such a good evening, we thoroughly enjoyed it and all for the bargain price of £4 a ticket, people missed a great night.
