Burnley draw Derby Away in FA Cup

Not the most evocative 3rd round FA Cup draw for the Clarets with a visit to Derby. It does bring back some FA Cup memories though......

3rd Round FA Cup Draw
Burnley have been drawn to face Derby County away in the FA Cup 3rd round. It is a match which is sure to bring back memories of the 1999 success in the same competition, when the clarets, then in Division Two, defeated Premiership Derby County 1-0 courtesy of an Andy Cooke goal.

In January 1992 we played Derby in the third but on fourth round day! A 2-2 draw at Turf Moor led to a reply at The Baseball Ground but this was abandoned. When we eventually played a third time, on fourth round day, we were beaten 2-0.

This is one of those games etched in Burnley memories everywhere. We didn't play that well at all, but the incredible support made national newspaper headlines. Eventually after about 20 minutes or more Jimmy Mullen had to bring the lads back out on the pitch otherwise we'd have never gone home!

Before that we have to go back to January 1969 when we beat them 3-1.

This draw may not be greeted with any real excitement BUT it's winnable and with £20,000 a week disappearing out of the coffers we need a good and long cup run!
