Referee: Tony Bates (Staffordshire)
Asst. Referees: David Foster (Tyne & Wear) Chris Reeves (Yorkshire)
Fourth Official: Keith Lawson (Lincolnshire)

Mr Bates was promoted to The Football League list of assistant referees in 1993 and progressed to the referees list in 1996. He was an assistant referee at the 1996 European Championship game between Germany and the Czech Republic as well as the 1995 Community Shield and the 1996 FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Liverpool.

His last Burnley game was our 4-0 drubbing by Coventry last season and he certainly isn't a lucky ref for us with the 7 games he has officiated for us in we have lost 5 and drawn 2.

From this season he has 88 yellows and 3 reds in 31 games.

LONGSIDE PREVIEW

Joint fifth in the table, 4 wins on the bounce with 5 wins in the last 6, isn't it great! BUT Leeds United at Elland Road is guaranteed to be a tough one.

Our game at the Turf in October ended in disappointment and controversy with Leeds winning 2-1. I am not going to go into that all now but suffice to say the game on Tuesday will need a strong ref.

As regards the team the debate now follows Grant's debut on Saturday and whether he will play or be replaced by the available Beast? Although we had the surprise of Duff playing on Saturday having been injured midweek and missing the last game two weeks previous we would expect no other surprises this game. An unchanged 10 is pretty much guaranteed and the usual 4-5-1.

With Leeds only 2 points above us in 4th and only 1 goal better a win would be almost too good to be true.

CAN WE DO IT? Of course we can! WILL WE DO IT? That's another question!

ENJOY THE GAME
