Leicester Link

Steve Cotterill was today questioned about the links that have been made regarding the vacancy at Leicester and said he knew nothing about the speculation.

There have been several reports from the national press declaring Cotterill the number 1 target for the Leicester board. The link was always going to be made with Cotterill having spent a spell coaching at the club last season. Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, who report that Leicester have not made an official approach, Cotterill had this to say.....

"The bottom line is I only know what I have read in the newspapers," he said. "People will ask questions but I only know what everybody else has read and as such, it's pure speculation."

Perhaps i'm reading too much into what he said or rather what he didn't say but surely this would have been the perfect opportunity to dismiss himself completely from the job?

Dave Bassett and Howard Wilkinson are currently in charge of 1st team affairs and it isn't clear how long the Leicester board will wait before appointing a new manager.
