According to reports in East Anglia, Burnley are set to sign goalkeeper Nathan Abbey. The former Luton and Maccesfield keeper is currently out of contract after Ipswich released him earlier in the week. Abbey was released by Ipswich Town earlier in the week following his one month spell at Portman Road. The keeper was brought in to cover Kelvin Davis after Andy Marshall had gone to Wolves for a month. Joe Royle had this to say about Abbey:-

"Nathan has been great while he has been with us and I will write him a good reference, if he needs one," Royle the club's official website.

"He always knew it would be a short-term stay though. He will stay with us for the rest of the week, but Andy will be cover for Kelvin on Saturday."

The 25-year-old is expected to sign for Burnley today according to the East Anglian Daily Times but it remains to be seen whether he would come in as number 1 or number 2 at the club.
