Skipper returns and helps clean sheet that lifts Clarets off the bottom

 The Clarets still remain without a win but put another building block in place with the point that lifted them off the foot of the Premier League table.

 Sean Dyche’s men doubled their tally with a repeat of their goalless draw at West Bromwich Albion in their previous away game.

 And while scoring remains a problem following a fourth successive game without a goal, a second clean sheet of the campaign brought some reward.

 Captain Ben Mee’s first appearance of the season on his return from injury coincided with a solid defensive performance backed up by two crucial first-half saves from Nick Pope before he heads off on England duty.

 And extending their unbeaten top-flight record at the Amex Stadium gave the Clarets something to take into the international break on a night when a return of their stubborn streak stemmed the flow and got them heading back in the right direction.

Much better defensively with Mee back, no midfield and no threat up front, normally a point away from home would be OK but we need to be winning against teams like Brighton. Palarse up next.
