And his late equaliser to cancel out Raul Navas’s first half header continued his sequence of scoring in every game as he made it a stunning nine goals in six games.
Gray pounced to rifle home the leveller just as the La Liga looked to have seen out the game after a dominant second half performance.
And as the challenge of the Premier League looms this was a timely lesson in patience for Sean Dyche’s side, against a team always looking to dominate possession.
There was a first Turf Moor start for summer signing Johann Berg Gudmundsson, who linked up immediately with Matt Lowton down the right in a bright start.

That other site was almost in melt-down about how poor we were. I checked the stats 75 minutes in, 35% possession, no shots on goal. You'd hope it might be a wake-up call for the clowns running the club, but they'll probably just shrug it off.
