Interesting that Stanislas now seems to be first choice after last season. I wonder if that's because Dyche rates him now or because we have no other wingers.

You could sense on Twitter there's a negative element just waiting to pounce on a defeat. They were itching for it to go wrong.

I'm not saying they want us to lose, but they seem to be gripped by this desire for Burnley F.C. to give them cause to moan. A decent run and win against Rovers should win over even the most chronically glum supporter. Attendances should climb then.

We made it hard work again today, but the newly promoted teams are always a tricky prospect early on in the season.

I thought so, and they tend to retweet a bit too much sometimes.

This game was typical of the Championship. Away sides have only one intention and that's not to concede.
We struggle to break sides down at times so its all about taking your chances or getting a bit of luck.
Once we could the luck it could have been 4 or 5.

That was just the sort of game we'd have lost under Eddie Howe.

Just listened to Dyche on Radio Lancs and he seemed fairly confident there'd be one or two more signings, and for all the moaning that we have a paper thin squad, it was two players off the bench wot won it for us.

Dyche tries to come across as upbeat in most of his interviews.
Not in the same way Coyle did but he always seems to try and sound positive.

As he says, his glass is half full - that's cos he wasn't brought up as a Burnley fan!

No complaints at all. A spunky promoted side and we beat them...in the end...and in the end if could have been 4/5/6.

Good how we got the win too. Yet again we start with the same 11 and I maintain that 11 is good enough and we just need the 08/09 luck on injuries/suspensions so that we can keep putting the same side out again and again.

The longer they play together they will get even better...once the defenders know the GK...we may now FINALLY have the first settled central defence pairing since Caldwell/Carlisle in 08/09....centre mid sorted and Vokes/Ings record together is Championship winning form over the course of two seperate month long spells as partners (now and Jan).

EVEN BETTER, I keep hearing there is no strength in depth, and yes the likes of Stock, Bartley, Mills and Porter have no future here but we still have two spare decent players who can fill in at all positions when needs be (apart from up front where we need another striker) and weve still a few pennies to spend. We started with THE ELEVEN...swapped both wingers for the "two spare decent wingers" and they, between them, won the match.

Hats of to Vokes too - sooner a player who we only expect 10 or so from to be missing chances than having NO chances. Firs half he missed when he tried to chip the keeper and missed with the header over. Second half had a couple of efforts well saved then got the pure luck he deserved with the goal.

Ings. Quiet all game. Then pops up late and hits the post.

Marney? Quality. Had someone from France with a silly name playing for Fulham have played those KILLER through balls to both Vokes and Treacy people would be creaming.

its an odd setup that.

there's only one of them who goes to games regularly. they cover the games 'live' from radio/clarets player commentary.

I remember buying a 50p fanzine called that back in early 90's - is it back?

No names but I can remember one poster on here a couple of seasons back who was giving his opinion on the way we'd played in an away game, and it turned out he was only going off what the R Lancs comms had said. I was amazed at the time but it seems to be prevalent now. Claretspice on CM often gives expert analysis on games he's never seen, if I haven't been to a game I keep my mouth shut.
