Twitter, the latest fad, the must have app, the ultimate in Celebrity stalking. With so much going on in the football world, Twitter seems the place to be, like it or loath it, I believe its here to stay.
For breaking the news first its fantastic, in the past there was the Sports Pink (Remember that), where we bought the paper ten minutes after leaving the Turf. We had Radio Lancashire, or the broadsheet Lancashire Evening Telegraph (we waited at the newsagents at 3pm to find out the latest), or wait till the Burnley Express came out Tuesdays or Friday. Then came the mobile phone and texting was the way to find out the news first, then came the World Wide Web, Internet was born, E-Mail, Instant Chat, Football Forums and now Twitter! The secret world of football transfers, players thoughts has been blown out of the Water, as a Burnley fan first its been the ONLY place to find out what the hell is going on at Turf Moor, with Daz Bentley Burnley's very own spin-doctor and the voice of the Turf leading the way, with Chris Boden of the Burnley Express throwing his voice into the ring, my twitter account has been on overdrive during the transfer window. Rumours of Danny Fox leaving the house broke first on Twitter, the messages of support for thier former team mates followed, Burnley's favorite son and talisman Jay Rodriguez rumours were next to be 'Trending' was he off with Fox or twas the North East his destination? as figures ranging from 4.2 to 6 million being tweeted by all and sundrie, you don't know who is to be believed, but one thing for certain, once you follow the tweets, your hooked! Message Boards, forums, football agents, Sky Sports presenters even Mike Tyson tweet, but the main man at the moment has to be Joey Barton Newcastle United and England midfielder who recently had a 'War-of-Tweet' with everyone's favorite welshman Robbie Savage (sarcasam), yeah the blond haired loon has the ability to tweet, as Leighton James stated he "couldnt tackle, pass or shoot" but i must admit he is up thier with the best at Tweeting. One of the best "war-of-tweet's" happened when Freddie Flintoff Preston's number one son (now Keith Treacy became a Claret) had a comical 'discusion' with our very own 'Burnley Express' Jmmy Anderson. Here are some of the Tweets from Freddie Flintoff and James Anderson.
flintoff11 "The burnley dingles are moaning , the town mobile phone is working overtime with all extra thumbs to the pump !" JimmyAnderson9 "@flintoff11 it always makes me laugh when you talk about Preston this and Preston that. You live in Surrey and support Man City?? #confused" flintoff11 "Evening @JimmyAnderson9 ! Do have to get special batting gloves made for all your thumbs ? #jimmysadingle" JimmyAnderson9 "@flintoff11 he is ye. If the Preston town crier were to read anything out I'm not sure you would here it from your Surrey mansion?" flintoff11 "Cheshire , arsenal @JimmyAnderson9 ? Don't embarrass yourself , put all your thumbs away close your eye and go to sleep ! #jimmysadingle" flintoff11 "Have to go to bed now but spare a thought for those less fortunate than us like @JimmyAnderson9 and tweet him a big high 6 ! #jimmysadingle0" Twitter its a place were normal folk can see how the other half live, read the toughts of your heroes (or Robbie Savage). Here are some of the twitter accounts you must follow:
