Burnley Web Fans caught up with former Clarets keeper Tony Waiters. The in depth interview, which is a must read for any Burnley and football fan maps the career of the former goalkeeper which saw him rise from the amateur game into the professional ranks. 

He enjoyed a top-flight career with Blackpool playing alongside the great Sir Stanley Matthews.

Waiters was capped by England and was in the initial World Cup ‘66 squad. It deals with his disappointment of missing out on the final 22 a decision he was informed of on the radio, and his subsequent retirement a year later. Thrust straight into coaching Waiters joined Liverpool in Shankley's management team but left to further his career which brought him to Burnley who he describes as his most enjoyable footballing days after coming out of retirement.

After hanging up his gloves for a second time Waiters guided an England youth team to international honours before having managerial success at Plymouth. From there Waiters made a three month move to Canada, a country he never left and still works today. A country he led into the World Cup Finals for their one and only appearance and where he has been an integral figure in developing the game’s infrastructure in the North American continent.
