A solitary goal out of the Sky Blue from Coventry's Michael Doyle was enough to extend the Clarets' winless away run as they drew a disappointing blank at the Ricoh Stadium.
A low key game looked a good bet to run out a stalemate as the two sides pretty much cancelled each other out and found goal-scoring chances perilously difficult to chisel out. But 12 minutes into the second half Doyle saw a chink of daylight and cracked home the winner to send Burnley sliding back out of the play-off places as their five match unbeaten run ground to a halt.
