Wednesday 13th October 2010 was a red letter day for the newly formed Burnley FC Former Players Association.
This is the first of regular updates of events staged by the BFPA, we will be covering the Vintage Clarets who will be playing regular games to raise funds for the welfare of former players. One of these fund raising games will take place on Sunday 17th October when captain Ian Britton will lead a team of former players (there are at present 18 players earmarked on a playing roster for this match) they will play against The Commercial Old Boys of Colne at the XLCR Stadium. The website www.burnleyfpa.com/ is a place where former players can find links to the club, the site has a unique mailing service whereby players can get in direct contact with the BFPA through the chairperson Veronica, by just filling out the form and e-mailing the site. Anyone who would like to donate items for fund raising at any of the upcoming events can do so by using the same form, also if you have any ideas on ways of raising money and the profile of this association which has been set up to help safeguard the future of former players of Burnley Football Club. On the agenda of the 13th October was the question of sponsorship, information on this subject can be obtained by contacting Veronica by e-mail at v.simpson@burnleyfc.com or by telephone on 01282 700001. This Association has been given the full backing of Burnley Football Club, its Honorary President is none other than "The Greatest Player" to ever wear the Claret and Blue shirt Jimmy McIlroy, the choices of President and Vice President aren't bad either with Paul Fletcher and Martin Dobson holding these positions. Already with the clubs backing, exciting developments are in the pipeline, we urge you to watch this space and keep checking the BFPA website at the following link www.burnleyfpa.com/
