So RIP Burnley's 100 per cent home record. And given that most people assumed our first home defeat would have been in our first home game of the season, against Manchester United, I suppose we ought to be happy to have got this far into the season before losing any points at Turf Moor.

You adjust to your own reality, don't you? Burnley's reality has settled into a pattern of winning at home, losing away. Now the spell has been broken, and it meant the new reality was a lot of unhappiness at 5pm on Saturday.

'I suppose your record had to go one day,' said one of the Wigan directors, amicably enough, after the game had ended. But why? Why did it have to end? What is wrong with the notion of us winning every home game? I'd even tolerate a hundred per cent away record - hundred per cent defeats that is - if we could have won every home game, culminating with Spurs on May 9. Fifty-seven points. We could just about make Europe at that rate.

Are they turning into a bogey team for us? We've only beaten em twice in 20 attempts!
