On paper this was a game that most Claret's fans would have expected for us to have picked up all three points, but it wasn't to be as in front of a healthy Boxing day crowd of 16,580 Burnley went down by two goals to one. From the kick off Burnley looked like they were still suffering from a Christmas Day hangover, and after only 6 minutes they fell behind to a goal from Jamie Cureton. the Clarets battled on and on 38 minutes Chris McCann knocked in the equaliser from a Robbie Blake cross.

Chris Eagles should have put us in the lead 3 minutes from half time when he side netted a glorious opportunity.

It looked like it was going to be one of those games, and it proved to be just that when Steven Caldwell deflected a Campbell Ryce shot past Brian Jensen. During the game Burnley had 18 shots to Barnsley's 7 but it is not shots that win matches it is goals scored, and even though we had good chances from Elliott, Blake and Eagles the Clarets missed out on 3 points due in the main to their own failings in front of goal.

A disappointing performance all round, let's hope it gets better when we visit bottom of the table Doncaster Rovers on Sunday 28th December.
