We have just drawn Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final of the Carling Cup. The firs leg will be away at White Hart Lane w/c 5th January 2009, and the second leg at Turf Moor w/c 19th January 2009. This will be the fourth London based Premiership club that Burnley will have faced in the competition.
Many will be shouting fix at this draw the big two being kept apart for the final, but personally I think this is as good a chance as any, Spurs will be no pushovers that's for sure but the ball numbers came out in the right oder to give us the benefit of the second leg being at home. There is great tradition in the various cup competitions between Burnley and Spurs, who will ever forget the great battles we had with them in the 60's? This is a tie to savour especially with the rewards of a Wembely appearance if we win, and with Gomes between the sticks who knows what can happen, he can either be brilliant or absolute pants, let's hope it is the latter.
