The Clarets At The Bridge

Just got back and need to speak to someone about tonight's game, even though I have totally lost my voice, too excited to go to bed yet. Am I dreaming this or have my lickle ole beloved Burnley just played at Stamford Bridge and knocked the Chelsea millionaires out of the Carling Cup. Just been looking through all the posts on the messageboard it must be true.

akinbiyi_020108_aYou know guys and gals these nights only come around every blue moon but hey when they do it is most definitely worth shouting about. Chelsea 1 Burnley 1 after extra time, Burnley go through to the last 8 on penalties 5-4, WAHEY an absolutely fantastic result and my very first visit to the Bridge as well.
The first 20 minutes of the game we gave as good as we got, then Drogba scored and we all of a sudden seemed a little scared, we sat back a bit and let them come at us, they had another disallowed and then hit the bar, goodness me we are gonna get stuffed.
Half time and 1-0 down all is not lost, can the lads pick it up in the second half, well yes they can, Ade bangs one in to make it 1-1. The elite of the Prem come at us hard, but can't seem to take their chances, we all know if you can't do that then there is nothing for you. Some of our boys are lacking some of the silky skills of the opposition but they are certainly more than making up for it with pure hard work and determination.
Full time and the scores are level at 1-1, extra time begins, it is only 15 minutes each way but it seems like an eternity, the Chelsea boys keep coming at us, but they can't make the breakthrough, the last 5 minutes of extra time seem to me more like 5 hours, are we gonna get the chance of taking penalties, would have preferred a replay meself, but hey ho penalties at this stage will do.
We take the lead, Chelsea equalise, we score again, the Beast saves, bloody hell we can win this, all Wadey boy has to do now is bang it in and we are through, fingernails down to the quick, then AAARRRGGGHHH, it goes high and wide, that's it we have had it, come on Michael Duff please please score, the Clarets fans go wild it's in the back of the net, then absolute pandemonium in the Shed end, THE BEAST has pulled off a wonder save, we are through, yes we are through, unbelievable, come on lads take your applause. What a night, what a night, and I was there, yes I was there, never ever forget this one, brilliant.
Well done Burnley, one and all, everyone one of you scores 10 out of 10 from me, I could nit pick and mark a few of em down but I am not going to, this was a team effort with each and every one of them playing their part, in a real workmanlike performance.
Proud to be a Claret
Now I wonder who we would all like in the next round?

Well done Burnley, well played and all the best for the 1/4ers and for your League season - hoping for revenge quite soon!!

The Clarets are back .i saud in a precious post that Chelsea are not an ocean to drink. it is a cup match and we have our chances .

Surely it would have been very difficult to sit and watch the match duribg the additional 30 minutes and during shooting of penalties .

Burnley deserve all credit . The historic march towards the triumphal arch is progressing fast .watch out .

Got back at 5pm and I still can't quite believe what I witnessed last night.

It was just so bloody surreal. I said to Mrs Casper today that it was at least 25 minutes into the game before I realised that I hadn't used my seat at all. She said she only realised at half time. It just felt so right.

Top top night and really nice to meet LC and crew!
