It’s Hillsborough this weekend as the Clarets look to continue their 100% record against a Sheffield Wednesday squad that has been decimated by injury.

Midfielder Yoann Foley picked up a knee injury in the 1-0 home defeat against Luton on Tuesday night, and joins Richard Wood, Drew Talbot, Barry Corr, Deon Burton, Marcus Tudgay and Peter Gilbert on the Owls’ enormous injury list.

Wednesday are also without Steve Adams and possibly Tommy Spurr and Frank Simek, who are rated at 50/50 for the game. Its big problems on the injury front for Wednesday who have failed to score so far in their two games this season.

On the opening day they got a good point at Preston with a 0-0 draw, but then followed this up with a 1-0 home defeat to Luton. The games don’t get any easier for the Owls as they prepare to face another one of the early season high fliers, that’s us, sounds good doesn’t it?

The Clarets are again at full strength apart from Danny Coyne who will once again miss out. If anything Steve Cotterill has the welcome problem of selection headaches thanks to having a full squad to choose from and players being in top form. 

It is expected that Cotterill will name the same side that won well at Leicester, the players that may be shuffled about if any will more than likely once again be Wade Elliott, James O’Connor, Micah Hyde and Kyle Lafferty, but we expect Cotterill to name the same side that featured at the Walkers Stadium.

A big following is expected to travel over the Pennines to South Yorkshire and considering our start and Wednesday’s problems, we could well get another win under our belt. Nine points from nine is a very real possibility, let’s hope come 4.50 on Saturday we are once again belting out the ‘We are top of the league’ chant.
