In the current climate any signing's got to be a good signing, as the way we're going we'll struggle to field a team next season. Sammy Igoe is a decent player and he's played well in a struggling Portsmouth side at this level in the past. In fact, he was a crowd favourite at Pompey. Though he may be similar in stature to Jody Morris, that is probably where the similarity ends.

Igoe was made for football at this level, whereas Morris - for all his enthusiasm - seems more suited for the Premiership...well, it's either that or he's simply on a downward spiral, as many Millwall fans were extremely disappointed with Morris' general contribution in the last campaign.

Or is the fans' disappointment down to expectations, which are higher for former Premiership players on bigger wages?

Igoe's probably is probably going to get only a fraction of what the big earners at the Den get, yet he'll probably be as effective as most of those (providing there's any left by the time the season kicks off).

So here's to Sammy! He might be have to be a one-man team unless the summer sales stops soon, so good luck mate!
