Birmingham & Solihull have joined forces with Birmingham Metropolitan College in a Player Pathway Partnership which will give teenagers the opportunity to progress from junior and colts rugby to senior level while studying for A Levels and on vocational courses.The partnership between the National League One club and one of Birmingham's leading providers of further and higher education provides a pathway into senior rugby for 15 to 19 year-olds and educational opportunities at the college."This is a great opportunity for local players to keep on track with their education, whilst looking to play rugby at the very highest level possible," said John Domachi, the RFU Community Rugby Coach for North Birmingham. Birmingham Metropolitan College teacher, Travis MacIntyre,said: "As we all know, professional sport is a dream for many, but a reality for just a few. The Player Pathway Partnership, therefore, offers both the chance to try and make the grade in the sporting arena, whilst at the same time still keeping other options very much open through continued further education."To officially launch the scheme, Birmingham & Solihull and Birmingham Metropolitan College are inviting aspiring local rugby players from U15 to Colts level, together with their parents and respective coaches, to come along to a presentation evening at the Village Hotel in Solihull on March 20 (7pm).The Bees assistant coach Eugene Martin, club captain Matt Long and Travis MacIntyre and Jason Allan from Birmingham Metropolitan College will be in attendance.To register interest and for more information, email:development@beesrugby.com
