Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club are set to begin their Community Programme with two brand new summer Camps.

Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club are set to begin their Community Programme with two brand new summer Camps.

The first camp caters for children aged from 8-13 years and runs over Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th August at the club’s Portway training facility. The second camp, again at Portway, is for children 14+ years and takes place on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th August. Portway Training Facility is located just off Junction 3 of the M42 motorway. The cost of the camps is £60 and £90 respectively.

Offering a unique opportunity to learn from the professionals, the courses and the content of the camp have had a complete overhaul from the coaching staff. The new, improved events provide over four hours of top-class rugby coaching per day, as well as off-the-field advice from current professional players on topics such as diet, nutrition, training, tactics and rehabilitation.

There is also opportunity for youngsters to enter the new “Bee for the future” competition and take part in other quizzes and competitions during the camp.

The camps are spearheaded by the Bees new Community Development Manager, Simon Hunt who is excited about working with up-and-coming youngsters.

“This really is an excellent opportunity for kids to learn from the professionals and pick up hints and tips, which will benefit them going forward in the sport”, explained Simon. “It will also encourage higher levels of youth fitness and promote healthier living”.
