Chelsea to make record bid for Argentine star?

The Blues are interested in landing Corinthians’ Argentine forward Carlos Tévez, and could pay a record-breaking fee of £60 million for his transfer. The Brazilian club doesn’t want to sell Tévez at all and has warned off any attempt from Chelsea, but such fee might change their minds. Carlos Tévez, aged 22, has worldwide recognition and is said he will become one of the best forwards in the world. He was bought from Boca Jrs. in December 2004 for 19.5 million dollars and the first season he played for Corinthians he was elected the Brazilian’s league Best Player. He has been a regular in the Argentina squad for more than a year and will probably be a starter in the upcoming World Cup.

Chelsea know just how good Tévez is and are almost willing to do anything to lure him, and that includes breaking all transfer records with an exaggerated fee of £60 million or U$S 100 million. Still, Corinthians remain firm and will try to keep Tévez, who, as they say, is their most beloved player. They have already turned down many offers for him and have been warning off Chelsea for a while, since the interest shown in the star is not new.

Chelsea boss José Mourinho has already made clear he is interested in the player so now it is up to Roman Abramovich to negotiate with Corinthians’ president, the Iranian Kia Joorabchian, who does not want to let him go.
