Pleased to have joined Everton

Dutch midfielder Andy Van der Meyde as stated that he is pleased to have ignored the advice of former Evertonian Marco Materazzi and joined Everton: "Marco said he didn't like it in England because he didn't like the weather.

"I am from Holland so I am used to this, the rain and the pitches.

"He told me, 'Don't go there, you don't have to go there.'

"But I know I've made a good decision. It's perfect for me, it feels like home already.”
