AC Milan players have been speaking on what they see as a lucky PSV win, rueing missed chances, but seeing positives in their performance none of the less. First up was Clarence Seedorf who stated:

'We didn't manage to score just as in the first game. Other than that I didn't see how we were inferior to PSV. They scored early on and this changed the game. PSV are very patient and meticulous in their defending, but we created a lot of chances.

Last season, I was almost ashamed to get to the final but this year they would probably be ashamed to have won. In any case, all is not lost, we have two games to play and if we face them with the same spirit then we will definitely win, luck doesn't always go your way.'

While Marek Jankulovski mainly wanted to focus on the games ahead:

'We have to remain relaxed and maintain our confidence. We'll give it all in the last two games of the group, we feel as strong as before, we know our potential and our thoughts are on the next two games.

It's disappointing we lost today but we were also a bit unlucky as we created plenty of chances and we tried right to the end but the ball wouldn't go in. If you don't score then it's difficult to get points. It became difficult for us when they took an early lead.'

Serginho thought he should have had a penalty:

'It was a clear penalty. However, I don't like to judge refereeing incidents. Milan played an excellent game today, we created a lot but the ball wouldn't go in. Now we have to look ahead to the next two Champions League games, we have to get points. I feel fine playing alongside top players like Nesta, Stam, Maldini, Costacurta who make it easy.'

Kakhaber Kaladze admitted his disappointment in losing:

'We are all disappointed because we played well. We conceded a goal in the first half and we were not able to come back despite the opportunities that we created.

We had the game in hand, but unfortunately we didn’t score. Maybe we were a little tired after Juve, we were not as brilliant as we were on Saturday. Now, we must look ahead to the upcoming games.

PSV have a great coach, they were tactically well placed on the field and played well at home. I am sorry about the goal, I thought Dida could have got to it. These are the kind of things that happen in football.'

Jaap Stam commented on what was a difficult night for him in particular:

'The game was difficult after PSV’s goal because they defend well, with everyone behind the ball. We were not able to find any space. However, in the second half we were able to create plenty of opportunities but we didn’t find the back of the net. Then, their keeper made some good saves.

It is a pity. Now we must win at home against Schalke and in the away game at Fenerbahce.’

On the two yellow cards and his consequent sending-off, the Dutch defender commented:

‘The first was not a yellow-card foul. I took the ball, but the referee decided as such. The second case was a slip, a reflex. In my opinion, there was also a foul on Serginho but when things aren’t going well…'
