Spurs are said to be one the trail of Hibs midfield star Kevin Thomson, and have sent chief scout Les Jones to watch the 21-year-old on several occasions so far this season. And they could not fail to be impressed with the youngster, who has been in fine form thus far this season. But they may find it difficult to get Hibs to part with what they see as a prized asset, the financial situation at Hibs has improved and management insist that they are under no pressure to sell, as they look to tie players down to longer contracts.

Talking to the Scotsman Mowbray said: "I've said before that I don't mind them coming and watching and I am sure that on Saturday there were one or two Hearts players who would also have interested them.

"There were a lot of decent performances on the pitch so we'll see whether my phone rings in the next couple of months.

"But the players are enjoying the season and they want it to continue and to be part of it. And, as Rod Petrie [Hibs chief executive] has said, we are in a pretty strong financial position and there is no great urgency for us to rush out and sell."
