Deschamps resigns as Monaco trainer

Didier Deschamps has ceased to be Monaco’s trainer after having lost four of the seven matches played so far. The strike of bad results also include being eliminated from the Champions League by Betis, and there were some conflicts with the club’s president, Michel Pastor. The 36-year-old coach, who as a player was the French national team skipper and played for Chelsea, Valencia and Juventus, took charge of the team in 2001 and won the league and was runner up in the Champions League during his mandate.

But as Monace lost to Rennes 0-2 last Saturday, the team fell to the 15th place, having lost four of the seven games that have been played so far in the league, Deschamps decided to resign from his position. The team also failed to qualify for the Champions League and will now play the UEFA Cup.

Michel Pastor had blamed Deschamps for the bad results, and the coach replied that the club was not ‘big’, questioning the transfer policy. This way, Deschamps leaves the team in which he was quite successful through the back door and in the dark.
