French center back Phillipe Christanval has joined Fulham for three years after being given the free transfer by Marseille. He played for Olympique for two seasons, after playing in Barcelona and Monaco, and could now make his debut against Newcastle.
In his arrival to the English side, the 27-year-old player spoke of the great atmosphere around the team and pointed out he wanted to become an important part of it.
Fulham coach Chris Coleman stated:
“I am delighted to get Philippe because we were looking to add some depth to our defence."
"Philippe is a player I have been looking at since I have been Fulham manager. I have always admired him. He was excellent at Barcelona but then had problems with injury and fell out of favour with the last few managers he has had.”
