First, he wasn’t allowed to play for Barsa’s first team since his status as an “assimilated” player is not yet legal in Spain. For this reason, his new contract might also be in jeopardy, and if the situation isn’t solved, Inter and Juventus are willing to offer him a juicy contract. If the irregularities in his contract and the bureaucratic barriers preventing him to play are not solved, the young Argentine star could find himself in trouble.

His great current contract was agreed thinking that he would play as an assimilated player, but since regulations in the Spanish Sports Council regarding that type of players are not yet in force, Lionel Messi is not only unable to play for Barcelona, but also some problems could arise regarding the validity of the contract.

This is why Juventus and Inter are expectant of what will happen, since they are very interested in getting Messi. If the problem is not solved and the current contract is no longer valid, the Italian teams could pay his former release clause, of only 400.000 euros, and would offer the starlet a huge contract plus first team action.

It should be kept in mind that his current release clause is of 150 million euros, the same as Ronaldinho.

Barcelona directives and Messi will be meeting to discuss his future, and the team is willing to increase his wage up to 1.8 million euros. There has been a lot of speculation, and the Italians are said to try to get into the talks and put some pressure to have a chance to land him. Even Milan and Real Madrid could be after him.

But the kid himself has made the point clear, he told Barcelona to relax, he is going nowhere and dreams of a long and fruitful career with ‘los Culés’.
