Newcastle United have as just about everyone on the planet now knows signed Michael Owen. This has given the southern based media its normal chance for a bit of Newcastle bashing. We are his 3rd choice?

How does that work exactly then?

Madrid were his 1st choice, well in that case why didn’t he stay there and work from the bench.

Liverpool were his second choice. Well why didn’t he go there after talks yesterday?
All in all Newcastle are THE choice and that’s all that matters.

Not everyone was so negative though, with the streets of Tyneside erupting with an enthusiasm I have not seen in ten years, since the unveiling of a certain Mr Shearer.

Well Freddy Shepherd has certainly had his critics, (me amongst them), but this summer I am a very happy man.

Luque is a signing of pure class, and now we have arguably the best English centre forward to go with him.

I don’t care what the reasons are, I only care that he chose to come to Newcastle United.

Now we have an attack, bring on Fulham, the international break is going to stretch into infinity.
