Spurs another one in the door

Spurs today look set to complete the signing of PSV Eindhoven defender Lee Young-Pyo and are still hoping that Newcastle United can be persuaded to part with Jermaine Jenas before the transfer window closes on Wednesday. Young-Pyo played a big part in helping South Korea reach the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup under his now coach at PSV Guus Hiddink who admitted that there was a strong chance his defender would be going to Spurs:

"There are still some discussions going on, but there is a strong chance that he is going to Tottenham Hotspur."

The transfer of Jenas would seem less straight forward, with Spurs’ offer still well short of Newcastle’s valuation of the player, and a reported swap deal involving Robbie Keene also appears a non-starter as Newcastle do not see the Irishman as the sort of player they need.
