The end for Owen at Madrid

By European Football

With Newcastle United and Arsenal still looking on and hoping for a chance to lure Michael Owen to their respective clubs, the arrival of Julio Baptista must have seemed heaven sent. And now this morning Real confirmed probably the worst kept secret in football, that they have captured Robinho from Santos, who joins them on a five year deal.

"Real Madrid and Santos have arrived at an agreement for the transfer of Robinho," said realmadrid.com.

Now if you assume Raul is still untouchable at Madrid, and the Spanish press do assume this, and Ronaldo is not moving anywhere, you are left with Owen to move.

He has not broken into the team in any meaningful way, despite being Madrid’s most consistent striker when he was called upon, those occasions would now appear to be even more limited.
