Toon interest for Baros?

Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race for, Liverpool out of favour striker, Milan Baros. The 23-year old striker is not needed anymore at Liverpool after the Champions League winners bought England striker Peter Crouch from Souhthampton for a massive £7 million. German side Schalke '04 are also seriously interested in the services of the EURO 2004 topscorer.

Baros' agent Pavel Paska revealed earlier that he is currently in talks with German outfit Schalke '04 but that nothing has been agreed yet.

Paska said: "I can admit I have had a meeting with Rudi Assauer. The name Baros had been noted. Schalke are one of the interested clubs, nothing more."

And now it seems that Newcastle entered the race in a late stage.

The Magpies, who let strikers Kluivert and Bellamy go, are desperately in need of a new striker. The North East giants earlier attempts to bring Nicolas Anelka to the club failed.

Aston Villa are another club who are interested in the Czech striker but so far they have failed to meet Liverpool's asking price of £7 million.
