Players and the coach spoke after the AC Milan Chelsea, game to give an insight to their take on the 1-0 defeat for the Italian Giants. First up was Manuel Rui Costa who thought Chelsea were fitter than Milan:

'Chelsea started training two weeks earlier than us, and this was clear on the pitch. However, we are pretty happy with our performance because we showed that we could hold on for 90 minutes. We tried different tactical solutions such as the three-man defence, and as long as our legs were not tired, we were able to do what the coach demanded. In the second half, due to some weariness, we were no more able to speed up the tempo and created few goalscoring chances, while we did better in ball possession.'

While coach Carlo Ancelotti was happy overall with his teams performance:

’We lost it is true, but I think that despite all it was a good test. In this period we are trying different solutions and the game gave me good indications. In the first half, for instance, we did very well on the flanks and made things difficult for the opponents who, don't forget this, are ahead of us in their preparation. In the second period, meanwhile, the rhythm slowed down, but we were able to hold on. The objective of these tests is the necessity to understand if the team can play in different ways, with new tactical solutions.'
