Downing Set To Sign On

Stewart Downing will renew his contract with Middlesbrough next week. The 20 year old winger will sign a contract that will keep him till 2010 at his hometown club. Downing is one of the brightest prospects of todays British football and attracted interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur before. Although Downing rejected two offers from Middlesbrough earlier this week, he is now satisfied with the latest offer.

"We have met with Stewart's agent en we have agreed a new deal for five seasons. Stewart will sign his new contract when he gets back from Portugal, next week." Stated Middlesbrough chief Keith Lamb.
