David Villa has joined Valencia Clube de Futbol in a £8m transfer. The Che were trailing the promising star for several months before stepping up their interest. British giants Manchester United were also firm admirers of the profilic striker.

Villa, who proved to be a consistent goalscorer in La Liga by bagging 32 goals for Real Zaragoza last season, has signed a five-year contract with Valencia.

The 24 year old is Valencia's 4th signing so far, Edu joined from Arsenal, Mario Requeiro from Racing Santander and Patrick Kluivert from Newcastle United, who passed his second medical last monday.

Valencia are now believed to step up their interest in AZ and Holland right back Jan Kromkamp, would a transfer not materialise The Che could well rekindle their interest in Bayern München ace Willy Sagnol.
