After all the mind games, Davids goes to Inter

So Davids has eventually signed for Inter then? Not exactly a secret, but the games that the bespectacled Dutchman and his agent chose to play in the build up to this long expected transfer, were to say the least a bit un-called for. First he was going to stay in Barcelona, but it looked like 65,000 a week was not quite enough to tempt him to a life in the sun, although it was usually enough to tempt him to be an almost permanent feature on the back of the Sun.

Next came the Spurs angle, which looked hopeful, everyone making the right noises, even quotes attributed to Spurs new management team, everyone expecting an announcement that he would be coming to the Premiership and it would be Spurs.

Then finally we had the announcement, he was coming to the Premiership and the side was of course Spurs, err no it wasn’t it was Liverpool, sorry I mean Chelsea. Well this was the one I bought into I must admit. I expected him to go to Inter for weeks, then suddenly he was going to Chelsea (I am tempted to call this my Chelsea wobble period, when for a full day (well almost anyway) he had me fooled).

So was there truth in any of these rumours, or was it Inter all the long and we have all been involved in some cynical wind up by his agent, to squeeze a few more quid out of Inter?

I suspect mostly the latter, although it does look like Spurs may have been in with a good chance at some point during these, most protracted of negotiations.

After this he will have to go to Inter and perform and I am sure he will, but he hasn’t made himself many friends in Liverpool or North London.
