Fresh corruption scandal rocks Serie A

Hot on the heels of the news that 2 Serie B players had refused to take bribes earlier in the week. The news that Franco Carraro is under investigation from the law courts, we will have to ask the question, what is going on in Calcio. Franco Carraro is currently dealing with allegations that he allowed some clubs to submit false economic documents, which would secure their place in the league.

The investigation has been called for from a group of Fiorentina fans, appaled at the harsh treatment of their own club had not been replicated with others in the same poisition.

Of the clubs they point out, Roma of course have been accused of submitting false financial documents in the past, in order to satisfy the league entry requirments.

Olympic Committee chairman Gianni Petrucci and league vice-president Antonio Matarrese will also face charges.

Although all three are accused of turning a blind eye, when it suits them, they deny the allegations strongly.
