Finnish international Alexei Eremenko jr. has jumped on the chance to sign for Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow, reports from Russia suggest. The transfer fee for the eccentric figure will be around 4-5 million euros. The Saturn captain has enjoyed an excellent season since signing from Italian outfit Lecce, has been the best goalscorer (seven goals) of his team, who finished 11th in the Russian championship last season, and has been a constant figure in tranfer rumours linking him with a move to Scottish giants Celtic. Now however a chance to join one of the best clubs in Russia is his first option, and the deal is said to be done already.

Eremenko, a Finnish citizen since 2003, has been a strong figure for the national team, and the initial tranfer to his original home country, Russia, was seen as a suprise career move, but seems to have been the right one. He was one of the main tranfer targets in the Russian market this winter with the likes of Spartak and CSKA said to be competing for his signature.

Lokomotiv, a traditional force in the league finished third in the league last season and are looking to improve next season, with Eremenko one of their main signings, linking up with Dmitri Loskov and Dmitri Sychev up front. Scotland international Garry O'Connor however looks destined to leave the club.
