Spurs after Sierra Leonean

Reports in The Netherlands suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are tracking FC Groningen's highly rated central defender Gibril Sankoh. The 23-year-old has been a consistent performer for the 'Trots van het Noorden' since signing from minnows Stormvogels Telstar in January 2005 and is considered by many to be one of the best defenders in Eredivisie. The 23-year-old Sierra Leonean holds a Dutch passport, so work permit issues would not be a problem.

Tottenham have been on the hunt for a back-up central defender for some time, only having Calum Davenport and Anthony Gardner to cover for first choice duo Ledley King - Michael Dawson, and are believed to have been scouting Sankoh over the course of the season.
