Spurs nowhere near a top side

They were described as the new force in British football, a side based on British talent, a world class side in the making. But none of this comes even close to reality. Saturday was yet another come down for Tottenham Hotspur fans. When you look at Tottenham Hotspur you will see a mix of overrated players and players on their way down. Edgar Davids is a good example of the latter, a player who wouldn't make the first team sheet in many Premiership teams, yet he's playing every game for Spurs. Slowly but surely reality kicks in and one by one the Spurs fans are starting to realise he is way, way past his best, no matter how much they don't want to admit it.

Jermain Defoe and Jermaine Jenas are great examples of players with bags of potential and suitcases full of terrible performances. And the list goes on, Michael Dawson is another player who will never become as good as people say he will. He is a decent defender but nowhere near England material.

Saturday's performance against Bolton can be seen as a wake up call for the Spurs faithfull. And I expect many more performances like that, this season. Tottenham experienced a great last year but remember what happened to Everton last season.

The team is of average quality and the top teams Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United, Newcastle United and Liverpool posses much more quality.

We can conclude that Tottenham have a good chance of finishing in the top ten but even considering Champions League football is a very, very big joke.
