Quakers Boss Ready To Listen To Conlon Offers

However with Macclesfield's £35,000 bid rejected any offer for Conlon would have to be in excess of what the Moss Rose based side have already offered. Other interested teams include rivals Hartlepool, Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City.

While Hodgson is reluctant to let the forward go and Conlon himself wants to see out his contract at the club Hodgson admits that the club may be forced to sell anyway. Speaking to the Northern Echo he said he would be disappointed if Conlon did have to go.

"If a big enough offer did come along then we would have to seriously consider it," said Hodgson. "We have received offers for Baz this week but none which we feel are acceptable. I've spoken to Baz and his immediate concern is to do well for Darlington Football Club. He is out of contract at the end of the season but we'll deal with that a bit nearer the time. If he does decide to go then, now is a good chance for him to put himself in the shop window by scoring goals for this club. It would be massively disappointing to let Baz go."

Conlon is currently not hitting the net for Darlington on a regular basis, something they desperately need at the moment. Despite the lack of goals for the forward Hodgson is confident that Conlon will get goals and help push Quakers up the table to safety.

"You know Baz will get you goals and if I was anywhere else he would be one player I'd want in my team," said Hodgson. "At this level it is important to have a big target man in the team and that's what Baz is. The goals have dried up for him lately but I'm sure they will come."

Meanwhile Neil Teggart has not completed his switch to Darlington from Sunderland. Due to a football league ruling Quakers have been thwarted again. The ruling states that any club in administration can have a maximum of twenty professional players which Darlington already have.

However Darlington are in the process of releasing two players. A delay in the paperwork from the PFA to finish the release has delayed the latest attempt to sign Teggart. "Hopefully, when the paperwork is complete, we can bring Neil in early next week." Said Hodgson.
