Wrexham manager Denis Smith has moved quickly to bring in cover for the injured Andy Dibble and after a morning of phoning clubs up and down the Football League, he is delighted to announce that Michael Ingham will be coming to the Racecourse from Sunderland.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international forced his way into the Black Cats' first-team squad last season, appearing on the bench a number of times in the Premiership.

Denis was very happy to have the new man on board.

"This takes the pressure off Paul Whitfield and makes sure we have cover for a very important position in the team," he said. "I have been onto a number of clubs looking for an older player, but after taking to Mick McCarthy at Sunderland, I had no hesitation in accepting his offer to bring Michael on board."
