Tranmere Rovers have given West Brom permission to open talks with their highly rated midfielder, Jason Koumas. Koumas has been watched by many Division 1 and Premier teams in recent years and has been a revelation in both Division's 1 and 2 for Rovers. The fee is expected to be £2.4 million rising to £2.75 million depending on apperances and if the Baggies reach the Premier league. Whilst the Rovers fans will be gutted they can take consilation that they have gained a fee for Koumas. Alan Mahon left Tranmere 2 years ago on a Bosman, having come through the Prenton Park youth set-up, despite been rated at £3 million.

Milwall has plans to bring Leeds playmaker Stephen McPhail to The New Den in a loan deal till the end of the season. McPhail, 22, has failed to establish himself amongst the Ellend Road superstars and has been hampered by injury after injury. The EIRE international is keen to get some 1st team football to secure his place in the World Cup squad. Milwall already have Stephen Reid and Richard Sadlier in the EIRE set-up and EIRE boss Mick McCarthy cut his management teeth with the South Londoners.

Coventry defender Marcus Hall has emerged as a suprise summer transfer target for Leeds. Hall is deemed and ideal replacement for Ian Harte is believed to be leaving Ellend Road in the summer, along with a host of other stars, as David O'Leary begins his cost-cutting scheme following a dissapointing season for the Yorkshire team. West Brom's Neil Clement is also allegedly interesting O'Leary. Both West Brom and Coventry are competing for a play-off place for promotion to the Premier League, no doubt whoever doesn't make promotion will be keen to join Leeds. West Brom have also been dealt a knock back at the news that transfer target Kevin Cooper does not wish to leave Wimbeldon.

Neil Warnock has started his quest for possible replacements for his highly sought after midfield. Michael Brown has been linked with several Premier teams this season and youngster Michael Tonge is believed to be attracting Liverpool. Despite Warnocks desire not to sell the duo he knows that if the right offer comes in he will have to sell. Out of favour Man City winger Terry Cooke will get the chance to impress Warnock in a trial. Cooke is also attracting the interest of Utd's deadly rivals Sheffield Wednesday. Warnock is also keeping tabs on Birmingham full-back Jerry Gill, it is believed that Gill will sign for the Blades in the summer as part of the deal to take Paul Devlin to St Andrews on a full-time basis.
